Literary Agency Query Submission Guidelines and Instructions

We're excited that you're considering our agency to represent your work. To ensure your query receives proper consideration, please follow these guidelines carefully.

General Submission Requirements

Your query letter should be professional, concise, and sent via email to submissions@lunarliteraryagency.com. We do not accept physical submissions or queries through social media.

Query Letter Format:

Your email subject line must follow this format: "QUERY: [Genre] - [Title] - [Your Name]"

The body of your query should include:

  1. A professional greeting using the agent's name

  2. A single paragraph introducing your book/series, including word count and genre

  3. A brief (2-3 paragraph) synopsis that captures your story's essence

  4. A short bio highlighting relevant writing credentials or experience

  5. The reason you chose our agency

Manuscript Requirements:

All manuscripts should be complete before querying (unless writing non-fiction)

Standard formatting: 12-point Times New Roman, double-spaced

Include the first twenty pages/or 10 chapters of your manuscript below your query letter

What We Represent:

We currently seek works in the following genres:

Literary Fiction

Commercial Fiction

Young Adult

Mystery/Thriller

Women's Fiction

We Do Not Represent:

Poetry

Picture Books

Screenplays

Short Story Collections

Response Time and Exclusivity:

We aim to respond within 6-10 weeks. If you haven't heard from us after 10 weeks, consider it a pass. We accept simultaneous submissions but ask that you inform us immediately if your work is accepted elsewhere.

Important Notes:

Do not send revised versions unless requested

One project per query

Wait at least three months before querying us with a new project

No phone calls regarding submissions

A Note on Diversity:

We actively seek diverse voices and stories that reflect the full spectrum of human experience. We welcome submissions from writers of all backgrounds, particularly those from traditionally underrepresented communities.

Following Up:

If you need to follow up on a submission, please wait until after the 12-week mark and reply to your original query email with "FOLLOW-UP" in the subject line.

By submitting to our agency, you confirm that you have read and understood these guidelines. Queries that don't follow these guidelines may be automatically rejected.

Remember: The best query letters are clear, professional, and show that you've done your homework about our agency. Take your time, polish your submission, and put your best work forward.
